Are you planning to build a new home? Find out how we can help you build one the ENERGY STAR® way.
ENERGY STAR® Homes program encourages our members to take advantage of the benefits of building a new single- or multi-family energy-efficient home (or a complete renovation of an existing home) with rebates up to $2,500. ENERGY STAR® construction results in reduced monthly operating costs, improved homeowner comfort, and higher resale value, all while providing greater environmental benefits. The additional cost is typically marginal and is offset in energy savings of 30-50%, increased market value of your home and rebates offered by the Co-op.
- All participating homes are eligible to receive a nationally recognized Home Energy efficiency Rating called a HERS rating. The higher the rating, the more energy efficient your home
- Incentives are available for the purchase of energy-efficient appliances, lighting, heating, ventilation and cooling equipment, as well as energy-efficient building materials towards your new or remodeled home
What Is An ENERGY STAR® Home?
Under the ENERGY STAR® Home Construction program, a home is viewed as a system of inter-related parts that must perform together to achieve thermal efficiency. Specifications require an exterior shell properly constructed, insulated and air sealed to create a controlled environment with minimal air and moisture infiltration. It may include mechanical ventilation, sealed combustion heating and appliances, and energy efficient lighting. The result is a home with a quieter, cleaner, healthier and more comfortable living environment, as well as one that is more energy efficient compared to traditional code-built homes. To qualify, the home must be a new construction or a complete renovation of an existing home, located in the Co-op's service territory, and meet design specifications. Some restrictions apply to individual rebate offers.
