Rates and Statistical Analyst

The Position:

Reporting to the Financial Planning, Analysis, and Rates Manager, this position will support the development of rates, budgets, load analysis, financial analysis, and other projects to help maintain a strong financial position.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the strategic goals of NHEC by assisting in the process of achieving Balanced Scorecard objectives.
  • Supports the cultural goals of NHEC by exhibiting self-leadership, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships, having a results orientation, being innovative and seeking feedback.
  • Works collaboratively across all divisions within NHEC to ensure NHEC’s Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Values are being achieved.
  • Supports the development of distribution revenue pricing by assisting with cost-of-service studies.
  • Monitors, maintains, coordinates, and performs updates of NHEC’s Schedule of Rates, Terms and Conditions, and Schedule of Fees by updating NHEC’s billing system, providing rate calculators to internal staff, preparing regulatory filings, and communicating changes to employees.
  • Ensures the accuracy of NHEC’s construction agreements as outlined in the Terms and Conditions by reviewing the calculations and load data information.
  • Supports the corporate budgeting process, including the annual revenue forecast and other budget- related tasks.
  • Facilitates updates to agreements with competitive suppliers.
  • Conducts monthly statistical analysis of consumer sales.
  • Conducts monthly financial analysis.
  • Facilitates monthly ski billing by gathering statistical data and calculating the associated costs.
  • Assists in the external auditing process by developing and providing various schedules required by the outside audit firm.
  • Prepares and distributes reports on a monthly and/or annual basis for internal and external purposes, including the Department of Energy.
  • Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational classes, reading professional magazines, and participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting A CPA or MBA is also desirable.
  • Five years’ experience required in a financial and accounting position desired. Three years additional utility accounting and financial experience is preferred. Should be conversant with the disciplines of data processing and information Experience with consumer accounting, financing, budgeting, forecasting, energy supply analysis, and business planning is preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, information on rates, financial and consumer accounting, and Must be able to present information to the Board of Directors and Public Utilities Commission as requested. Must possess strong Excel skills. Must have a good working knowledge of data modeling and analysis.
  • Must have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles included those promulgated by the Financial Accounting Standards Knowledge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission uniform system of accounts is desirable. A conceptual and working knowledge of utility regulations as required by the state and federal agencies a plus. Knowledge of rate, cost of service analyses, and energy procurement strategies preferred.
  • On-site office work in the Plymouth, NH area; partial telecommuting acceptable with management approval. Occasional overtime may be required. Travel required in the performance of work responsibilities and representing NHEC at various professional and association meetings.
  • Assistance with power restoration efforts is required of all It may be required during regular business hours that employees will be assigned functions to support power restoration and for some employees that may be different from their normal duties. In addition, such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidays which may involve considerable extra hours. In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours. This number will only be used for internal purposes
