IT FUNCTIONAL ANALYST

 

OUR ORGANIZATION:
As you know, the electric utility industry is currently undergoing enormous change as consumers look for new ways to manage energy costs through distributed energy resources such as solar arrays, battery storage, energy efficiency, and the use of electro-technologies like heat pumps and electric vehicles in place of fossil fuel powered technologies. These changes present new challenges and opportunities to find ways to meet our members’ evolving expectations and make this an exciting time to work in the electric utility industry. In June 2017, we completed a five-year strategic plan, identifying four areas of strategic focus with actionable goals within those areas.

  • Transformation of our Business Model to prepare for the widespread adoption of distributed energy resources by our
  • Adoption of a Voice of the Member platform to help us better understand and meet our member’s needs and
  • A focus on enhancing our Organizational Effectiveness by transforming NHEC into an organization that is innovative, nimble, and able to respond more rapidly to the changing needs of our members and the way they lead their
  • Ensuring NHEC’s ongoing Financial Stability through development of a revenue model and associated rates and charges that better reflect the way our members will use our distribution system as they increasingly play a role in managing the energy resources that serve

 

To help meet the goals in the strategic plan we identified three key drivers that describe the kind of organization we want to be:

THE POSITION:

In order to help meet the goals of our strategic plan and achieve our long term strategic vision, we are looking for an IT Functional Analyst. Reporting to the Business Solutions Manager, the IT Functional Analyst is responsible for promoting and maintaining the work management capabilities within the enterprise software application. This position will take a lead role in projects related to upgrades of existing software and selection and implementation of new software, by identifying requirements, testing, training and troubleshooting, and will be responsible for project management activities as needed, using the project management structure as provided by the Project Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with stakeholders throughout all levels of the business to analyze and document business processes with a focus on continued systems
  • Configure work management system to implement changes to processes, which includes creating or maintaining workflow templates, tasks, resources, work groups, service order types and contact types.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and document requirements for enhancements to existing software or new software selection and
  • Oversee enterprise application software release upgrades and coordinate with others for all planning, testing and reporting
  • Perform testing for software releases and upgrades to ensure functional requirements are
  • Assist with application support and problem resolution with internal and external software publishers.
  • Develop and conduct application training using multiple media
  • Execute projects by designing and executing the project plan, which may include a business case, statement of work, business requirements, process analysis, system requirements, and test
  • Provide backup support for other IT team members to ensure service continuity in times when needed for planned or unplanned
  • Performs other duties as may be

 

THE PERSON:
Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent field required or a minimum of five (5) years related work experience. Experience in the electric utility field is highly desirable. Experience using NISC iVue software is also desirable. Experience with managing projects and knowledge of project planning tools desired.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Microsoft
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the
  • Ability to identify priorities and ensure deadlines are
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently as well as operate as an effective contributor in a team
  • Ability to perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Proficiency with project planning tools and applications, such as Microsoft Project, SmartSheets, or Trello.

 

 

Working Conditions:
Assistance with power restoration efforts is required of all employees. It may be required during regular business hours that employees will be assigned functions to support power restoration and for some employees that may be different from their normal duties. In addition, such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidays which may involve considerable extra hours. In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours. This number will only be used for internal purposes.
