A minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent required. Additional schooling in electricity, computers, technical school or mathematics is desired.


Should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in both overhead and underground utility line construction and operations.  Related experience in an equivalent position classification may be substituted.

Job Knowledge:

Must be able to complete forms and reports and work without supervision.  Must be able to distinguish the difference between transformers, voltage regulators, oil and electronic reclosers, and capacitors.  Must be familiar with NHEC and other pertinent construction specifications.


Should be skilled in the areas of organizing and planning work assignments and should possess knowledge of REA construction specifications.  Must be an effective communicator and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.  Must be able to effectively operate Cooperative GIS equipment. Must be able to walk for long periods of time over rough terrain; familiarity with the service area and have the ability to read maps preferred.  Should be able to communicate effectively with members and be adept at problem solving.  Should be skilled in the areas of organizing and planning work assignments.  Must be able to learn codes, laws, standards, and policies to remain current on their application to design and construction practices.

Working Conditions:

Must work inside and outside, sometimes under adverse weather conditions and long hours.  Overtime is required.  Occasional overnight travel to attend training sessions or to assist other utilities during major storms is required.

Assistance with power restoration efforts is required of all employees.  Depending on the severity and duration of power outages, employees may be required to assume duties and work hours that are outside of their normal working conditions. Such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidays and may involve considerable extra hours. In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours. This number will only be used for internal purposes.
