COLEBROOK, NH – The New Hampshire Electric Co-op (NHEC) Foundation and New Hampshire Food Bank recently announced that they will partner to provide food to Colebrook area residents in need via a mobile food pantry distribution on Saturday, February 24th at noon at the Colebrook Elementary School.

The NHEC Foundation provided a $5,000 grant for the seventh consecutive year to make the Colebrook mobile food pantry possible.  Volunteers from both sponsoring organizations will be on site to help unload and distribute the food to those in need at the school, which is located at 27 Dumont Street in Colebrook.

The mobile food pantry plans to provide approximately 15,000 pounds of food, the equivalent of about 12,500 meals, on February 24th as a supplement to food already available through local hunger relief agencies. NH Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH, is the only food bank in the state, and its registered hunger relief agencies rely on the food bank for approximately 40 percent of the food they distribute each year.

The NHEC Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is funded by the generosity of Co-op members who round up their monthly electric bills to the next dollar with the proceeds benefiting the Foundation.  Since being founded in late 2005, the Foundation has donated more than $3 million to support local charitable organizations and programs that improve the quality of life in New Hampshire.
