With the holiday season in full swing we’re reminded of others and the need that exists in our communities. Rooted in our communities, Co-op employees always step up to help. They never disappoint.

Upon gathering for this year’s annual holiday breakfast, Co-op employees continued our years-long tradition of bringing non-perishable foods to donate to area pantries. An example of neighbors helping neighbors.

This year, our employees generously donated more than 450 non-perishable cans and boxes of pantry staples and toiletries, as well as a jar filled with $337 dollars, all of which will go to support two area food pantries: the Plymouth Area Community Closet and Bristol Community Services. Together, they serve more than 20 surrounding towns.

“I’d like to say I’m surprised at our employees generosity, but I’m not,” said Susan Karkheck, Senior Business Partner in the People & Culture department, who recently celebrated her 35th anniversary at the Co-op. “Whether food, money or gifts, if the community is in need, the employees of NHEC are always ready to provide.”

In addition to the food donations, the Co-op has, over the course of ten years, partnered with The Whole Village Family Resource Center, part of Granite United Way, to provide essential clothing and footwear to support the healthy development of children in the community. Our employees take tags from our Giving Tree, located in Co-op headquarters in Plymouth, which specify the details of what is needed and for whom – be it a teenager, younger child or an infant. This year some of the gifts ranged from snow pants to boots, which will go to three families, including five children.

We are grateful to all of the organizations who work to support our neighbors and friends. And we remain proud of and grateful for our community of employees who give generously.
