PLYMOUTH – New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (Co-op) members have begun voting for five seats on the 11-member Co-op Board of Directors. Voting by Co-op members will take place from today until June 11.

A field of five candidates is running for election to four, three-year seats, while two candidates are competing to fill a single one-year seat on the Board.

Five candidates were nominated by the Co-op’s Nominating Committee, an independent body that reviews the qualifications of candidates and recommends those candidates it believes would best contribute to the successful operation of the Co-op. Two candidates are running by petition, which required them to gather the signatures of a minimum of 100 Co-op members.

Nominated by the committee for election to three-year terms are:

  • Alana Albee (Tuftonboro)
  • John Goodrich (Littleton)
  • Peter Laufenberg (Thornton)
  • Tom Mongeon (Rumney)

Running by petition for a three-year term:

  • Jonathan Nelson (Lempster)

Nominated by the committee for election to a one-year term:

  • Tom Randell (Moultonborough)

Running by petition for a one-year term:

  • Robert MacLeod (Thornton)

Co-op members are receiving written statements from the candidates, along with a ballot and a postage-paid return envelope. To save time, money and resources, the Co-op encourages all members to vote securely online instead of returning a paper ballot. Each ballot mailing will include instructions for voting quickly and securely online. In addition, Co-op members are receiving emails with secure links to the online ballot website. Members can also cast their ballots by tapping the ‘Vote Now’ button on their SmartHub account homepage.
